Setting Up Your First Affiliate Commission

Quick start guide to setting up your first affiliate commission rate, percentage vs fixed bounties, and product rules.

Setting up your base commission rate should take less than a minute. By default, every program requires at least one Global Default Rule, which is configured in your program's Settings.

Configuring the Global Default

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab in your program dashboard.
  2. Locate the Commission Structure section.
  3. Select your Commission Type and enter the Value.
  4. Click Save.

Percentage vs. Flat Rate

When configuring the reward, you must choose a type:

  • Percentage: The affiliate earns a percentage of the total cart value.
    • Example: If you sell a $100 app and set a 30% commission, the affiliate earns $30. If the customer uses a 50% discount code (cart value $50), the affiliate earns $15.
  • Flat Rate: The affiliate earns a fixed dollar amount, regardless of the cart value.
    • Example: If you set a flat rate of $10, the affiliate earns $10 on a $50 purchase, and $10 on a $500 purchase.

[!WARNING] If you use Flat Rate commissions, be careful with discount codes. If an affiliate refers a user who uses a 100% off coupon to get the app for free, the affiliate will still earn the Flat Rate (meaning you lose money) unless you configure your payment provider to ignore zero-dollar checkouts.

Creating Affiliate Tiers

If you want to offer higher rates to specific partners:

  1. Navigate to the Tiers tab in your dashboard.
  2. Click Create Tier and define a new name (e.g., "VIP Influencers") and a higher commission rate.
  3. Once the tier is created, you can assign individual affiliates to this tier from your Members list. This custom tier will override the Global Default for those specific members.
